ITINERARY
Bat trang village – Your tour starts with a pick-up at your Hanoi hotel at 08:00. Transfer to the ceramics village of Bat Trang to learn the history of its unique form of ceramic art, one of the oldest traditions of Vietnam. Fondly known as the “Village of Bowls,” it is the oldest and best-known pottery village of Vietnam and an ideal place to pick up some interesting souvenirs and gifts. And then explore the colorful streets of Bat Trang.
But thap pagoda – Experience the peace of the sanctuary from the entrance gate, where an old banyan tree provides shade. Go to the bell tower and back house, and see more than 50 statues in the temple interior. Marvel at the remarkable Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva statue of 1,000 arms and 1,000 eyes.
– Return to Hanoi for lunch. Then drive to Cu Da – Vermicelli making village. Vermicelli noodles are called mien in Vietnamese and come in white and yellow versions. They are used mainly in noodle soup and in fried spring rolls. Both white and yellow versions are made with arrowroot. The arrowroot is ground and mixed with water to make a paste which is spread onto large bamboo trays and dried. It is then cut into thin strips — the vermicelli — and dried again before being packaged. Although machines are now used for the spreading and cutting, it’s still a very labour-intensive process. Half of the village’s income comes from vermicelli production.
– The last visit is the silk weaving village of Van Phuc. Located on the banks of the Nhue River, Van Phuc is internationally reputed for its traditional sericulture, weaving and silk products. Marvel at the beautiful shirts, ties, dresses, and other silk items on offer. Learn how the silk is made using simple looms according to ancient traditions, before your return to Hanoi.
