INTRODUCTION

Welcome to perfume pagoda tour! – The Perfume Pagoda is a vast complex of Buddhist temples and shrines built into the limestone Huong Tich Mountains. It is the site of a religious festival which draws large numbers of pilgrims from across Vietnam.

A day trip to this famous Buddhist area offers you an interesting boat row along beautiful Yen River with scenery of Karst mountains; getting to know the local religious practice; riding a cable car.

ITINERARY

At 8:30 am Hanoidriverguides will pick you up at your hotel in Hanoi. After a 2 hour drive out of the city and into the rural area you start the visit.

Located on the limestone rocks of Huong Son Mountain in beautiful and mystical surroundings; is a complex of Pagodas and Buddhist shrines built into the limestone cliffs. The most important and sacred pagoda is situated inside a cave known as Dong Huong Tich ‘The cave of Fragrant Traces’.

Firstly, you will take the rowing boat – sampan and set off on a 1 hour journey on YEN river to Thien Tru quay. The peaceful scenery along the river, is marvelous and impressive.

On arrival at the foot of the mountain in Thien Tru quay, you set off on a cable car ride to the main cave Pagoda. The main pagoda is set in a huge grotto containing a highly decorative shrine with many stalactites and stalagmites. After visiting the pagoda, you trek down hill to the mountain foot for lunch in a local restaurant.

After lunch, we go to Thien Tru pagoda (Heaven Kitchen) to walk around and learn more about Buddhism and taking photos. Then back to the boat for drive back to Hanoi.

Note: During Tet (Vietnamese New Year; February – April) and the three months preceding it, the Perfume Pagoda is crowded with pilgrims and travels and is not recommended.
